School Council
Blakehurst Public School Council was constitued in 1991 in an attempt to keep pace with the huge changes taking place in the education system. The Council is a policy-making body within the guidelines of the Department of School Education. It is also the school's budget committee.
Membership includes:
- The Principal as the Executive Member.
- P&C President (or another member of the executive).
- Elected members from the P&C.
- Elected members from the school staff.
- An appointed Community member.
Elections for the Council take place each year in March and the results are published in the School Newsletter within two weeks of the election.
The Council meets at least eight times a year and members of the School Community are welcome to attend, but have no voting rights. Any member of the School Community who wishes to debate a matter, must notify the Secretary of the Council in writing.
